The Swap Shop with InPost UK

Recently I took part in the #InPostSwapShop challenge with InPost Uk. As part of the challenge I was asked to select one of my own pre-loved accessories to swap with one other fellow blogger who had also been selected to take part. There were hats and jewellery up for grabs and I actually chose one of my own creations to swap as part of the challenge. I picked out a pink faux leather clutch bag which I had made myself. I then shared images of my clutch bag across social media, letting other bloggers show their interest in my item for a chance to be sent it as part of the swap.

In the end the swaps were decided and so it was then that I got to use InPost UK’s service to send my bag to the blogger who had been selected to receive it.

Before being asked to take part in this challenge, I have to admit I’d never heard of InPost UK, so I was intrigued to find out who it worked. It turns out it was actually pretty easy to use and not as complicated as I had first thought. Basically you do most of the work online, from the comfort of your own home if you wish. Entering the weight and size on the website determines the price of your package delivery and then you pay securely online before printing off your postage label, which you can then stick onto your parcel. Once you’ve printed out and stuck on your postal label you can take your package to any one of the many InPost lockers around the UK, 24hours per day. At the InPost locker you simply scan the postage label or key in the code written below it and one of the locker doors will open for you to place your parcel inside. You then close the door and your package is securely stored until your item is collected and delivered. You can both post and collect items from InPost lockers and it’s great if you’re someone like me who doesn’t always get chance to make it to the post office on time or isn’t often in to collect deliveries. I chose to send my package locker to door, meaning that the bag would be sent to the blogger’s house. You can also select a locker to locker service or even a door to door service, all for a reasonable price which makes it super handy.

In return as part of the swap I received this lovely Pegasus pendant necklace.

Thank you to Rachel of It’s My Kind Of Thing for nominating me to do this post. It seems like a great way to share some more information about myself with you and also find out more about other new and budding bloggers too.

    11 Facts about me:

    1) I’m 5’9″
    2) I dislike olives, however each time I’m eating and there are olives on the table, I like to try one to see if my taste buds have changed. I’ve been doing this for a number of years now and I still dislike olives.
    3) I LOVE pizza
    3) I gave up eating lamb when I was 10 because it was my favourite animal and I didn’t want to be a hypocrite by eating it. I’ve never eaten lamb since.
    4) I used to bleach my hair.
    5) I once missed a flight to Mexico.
    6) I easily entertain myself by being silly.

    10) I have a sick sense of humour and most of my friends are used to me saying inappropriate things.
    11) I’m a very smiley person.

    Questions from Rachel:

    1) What is your favourite blog to read at the moment?
It’s probably Ring My Bell, it’s actually more images than writing but she has a great sense of style and posts cute pictures.

    2) What is your favourite clothing item or accessory?
A biker jacket. Every year I have at least one that I wear with everything.

    3) Why did you start blogging?
Because I wanted to document my travels and experiences so I decided to put it online to share it with other people too.

    4) Do you prefer sweet or savoury food?
Savoury but then after my main I do love a good sweet!

    5) Where is your favourite place to eat?
I go to a place in Manchester called Richmond Tea Rooms a lot. I go there mostly for tea and cake but when it comes to food I do love a good Pizza and I also go to Croma (an Italian chain in Manchester) quite a lot. But each time I go out for a fancy meal I like to try somewhere different.

    6) What is your favourite country you have visited and why?
That’s seriously such a hard question. I don’t think I can pick just one but to name a few I’d say America because one of the times I visited, I went to Las Vegas for 21st and it was amazing! I love Cuba because it’s the most chilled out place I’ve ever been to and the people were awesome. I love Germany because both times I’ve visited have been with my boyfriend and we did so much sight seeing and had some really fun nights out. We have a lot of fun memories together there.

    7) If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would to go anywhere I haven’t been before. I like experiencing different countries and new places. The more you explore the more you learn.

    8) What is your favourite book?
The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence. I read this book at the start of this year and I actually felt like I missed the characters when the book had finished. Sad I know but that’s when you know you’ve really enjoyed reading a book.

    9) Who do you wish you could meet?
Anyone that can help me grow creatively and broaden my knowledge. I always like to meet people who can inspire me and also people that I can inspire too.

    10) Which birthday has been your favourite/what did you do?
My 21st, Vegas, need I say more. Also for that same Birthday my boyfriend took me to Munich which made it even better and we had an incredible time.

    11) What is your top blogging tip?
Be consistent with your blogging and write about what really interests you. Last year I started blogging but didn’t really get into it properly up until recently and now I’m beginning to get addicted as I love it!

    11 New Questions:

    1) What would be your perfect day out?

  • An Impromptu Day Out

    An Impromptu Day Out

Today began with an early morning gym session followed by a couple of castings in Salford Quays. My friend LBD had one of the same castings as me and so as we were in the area, after my second casting it spurred an impromptu day out at The Imperial War Museum. Before exploring the museum we went to a local cafe for a spot of lunch. We enjoyed falafel and humous toasties whilst catching up over numerous cups of coffee. The coffee had free refills, so being the coffee lovers we are we sure did make the most of it!

    Photography by Rianna Tamara

During my last trip to London I shot with photographer Rianna Tamara. We shot in a studio, one Friday afternoon. Wearing a few pieces from my own wardrobe, the styling was simple and I wore no makeup as to capture natural shots.

I’m really pleased with how the images turned out, as some simple natural shots like these were just what my portfolio needed.

  • Pearls & Lipstick update

    Just a quick update here…

It’s currently a bit hectic at home as we’re due to move house this week but amongst all the craziness, yesterday I managed to find time to start getting product shots of some of the items that will be on sale on Pearlsandlipstick.co.uk. (Exciting!)

So I have been taking a few sneaky custom orders prior to the site going live, including this coin purse which I love (if I do say so myself):

  • A busy few weeks of fun.

So as of late I’ve been rubbish at blogging but March has been a busy month and I’ve had lots of fun. My highlights have been catching up with far away friends, heading down to London, doing some much needed test shoots and having lots of great nights out. Unfortunately all this has meant I’ve been left with little free time for my bag making/product shots and so progress on the online store opening has been rather nonexistent. However now I’ve got a very busy few weeks out of the way, I’m hoping over the rest of April I’ll have some free time to focus on my bags and get the website open.

I had a long over due night out with Laura and Abi. I see Laura a lot but hadn’t seen Abi in ages, so it was nice to catch up, eat pizza and have a girlie night out together.

  • This week

Today I’ve been feeling a bit lethargic, I think this past week has finally caught up on me and my lack of sleep has taken its toll. I haven’t blogged much as of late, partly because I haven’t had much chance and partly due to laziness when I have had the spare time. I have been taking pictures throughout my week and the week before, all with the good intention of blogging but I just haven’t gotten round to it until now.

So on Monday and Tuesday I was shooting. Monday’s shoot was in a cosy studio, sheltered from the blizzard like weather outside but Tuesday’s shoot was outdoors and it was freezing!
The shoot was for an up and coming designer who makes leather bum bags, ATQM. As the theme was summer/festivals the clothing was mainly short shorts and crop tops, so we had to brave the cold whilst trying to look warm. I was working with a couple of other girls from my agency and also my friend, Laura was on the shoot too.
