    Reebok Classic White Leather Trainers

I’ll be completely honest, if you would have told me a few month ago that I’d be rocking a pair of Reebok Classics, I would have said that it was highly doubtful. As silly as it sounds, something was somewhat ingrained in me from high school that Reebok wasn’t ‘cool’ and although I care less about my peer’s style opinions these days, or the opinion of my 14 year old self for that matter, I still guess I was still put off by the idea of wearing a pair of Reebok Classics…It just shows how fashions change and personal opinions and style changes with it.

My boyfriend had mentioned wanting a pair of white Reebok Classics (something which I previously hadn’t been keen on) and then much to his luck, we were invited along to a Kendrick Lamar gig put on by Reebok, where on arrival everyone there was given a pair of white Reebok Classic trainers. Never one to be a party pooper, I happily traded in my shoes (which were kept safe in a cloak room during the gig) for these fresh white Reebok Classics. After putting them on for the first time, my opinion instantly changed. I couldn’t deny that these trainers were comfortable and actually looked kind of cute with my all black attire that I was wearing on the night. Several weeks later and what can I say, I’ve been converted and I now I think that Reebok Classics are pretty cool.

Here I decided to go for a super casual look with my black skinny jeans, biker jacket and pale pink Tee. I’ve never braved all white trainers before but I love the way they look and I think these ones will be great for Spring/Summer.

Black Skinny Trousers & Heeled Boots

I’ve been back from Paris exactly two weeks now but this is finally the last outfit instalment of my trip. Although this is a pretty plain outfit, I really enjoyed wearing this combination and I’ve been loving these skinny trousers recently. I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of them as they are super comfortable and I’ve been enjoying wearing them both dressy and casual. On this occasion I decided to team my skinny trousers with my current favourite boots to finish of my all black (unintentional cartoon cat burglar) look.

    Sightseeing Attire

When I’m sightseeing and being a tourist I care far less about ‘fashion’ and what looks good and a lot more about comfort and what will keep me warm. However, my new found love for a more minimal approach with my dressing certainly helped me out on this occasion, whilst in Paris, as everything that I packed for my little city break was very mix and match. This meant that even when throwing clothes on and layering up, everything seemed to go and I felt I’d packed pretty appropriately for the trip whilst still feeling happy in what I was wearing.

The Same But Different – Roll Neck & Faux Fur

    Roll neck outfit

I’ve become what you might like to call ‘an outfit repeater’. Long gone are my days of wearing a garment a limited amount of times before getting bored, as now I’m all for making the most out of each and every piece in my wardrobe by wearing them as much as possible. In order to not get bored, I’ve been having fun layering and mixing up garments with completely different looks each time I wear them.

    Mom jeans and heels outfit

If you have seen my previous blog post, you’ll notice that I’m wearing pretty much the same outfit when you strip it down to the Mon jeans, roll neck and bag. By simply changing the jacket and swapping trainers for heels, the look is instantly smartened up a little.

I know it’s not rocket science and mixing and matching items is what many people do everyday. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not something I’m new to, it’s just that before, I used to constancy crave new items in my wardrobe without fully appreciating the real versatility of many of the pieces that I already owned. As more and more ‘unnecessary’ pieces leave my wardrobe and I’m left with less clothes to sift through, I’m actually finding myself feeling happier with the fewer items I’m left with. I’m enjoying finding new ways to create different looks without the constant need for new garments.

  • Between Seasons – The Mondara Jacket

Between Seasons – The Mondara Jacket

It’s funny how the day I decide to get pictures in my new rain mac, is the day the sun decides to show its face. This did however make me realise that this is a pretty versatile jacket. I think we had the warmest day in a while (here in Manchester at least) the other day, and for the first time in ages, I didn’t feel the need to wrap up in multiple layers. The thing with living in England is, you almost have to be ready for anything weather wise. Even on the sunniest days, I often carry an umbrella in my hand bag (just incase).

    Pink Bellfield Mondara Jacket

I think I may have found my solution with this light weight Mondara jacket. It’s loose enough to wear over layers on chillier days and the fact that the jacket is water proof means I’m always prepared for rain when I’m wearing it. It makes for the perfect transitional piece as we (very slowly) move from winter into spring.

    Bellfield Mondara Jacket

Another garment that I find perfect for ‘in-between seasons’, is the roll neck. I’ve been loving wearing this one in particular for that fact that it’s one of those pieces that is easy to throw on and that fact that it’s not too thick, means it’s easy to layer up too.

It’s fair to say that I’m somewhat enjoying playing with different styles at the moment especially when it comes to mix and matching different staple pieces in my wardrobe. I recently created a very short lookbook style video showing a few ways to wear the cream roll neck, teamed with the Mom jeans in a few different looks, which you can check out here:

  • Winter Layers & The Perfect Grey Coat

Winter Layers & The Perfect Grey Coat

Although it can be pretty cold here in the UK around this time of year, one thing I do enjoy about the winter period is layering. However, I often find that my outfits can become somewhat monotonous around this time of year and that’s mainly due to the fact that I’ll often wear the same small selection of coats/jackets on repeat.

Style blogger grey layers Winter Outfit

I decided a new coat was in order, as I’d got a little tired of wearing my trusty long black coat from last year and I fancied changing things up. Opposite to my previous go to warm coat, I decided to opt for something slightly more androgynous, as I wanted a coat that I could wear slightly dressy with a nice pair of heeled boots and also super casual with a pair of trainers. I’m usually drawn to quite fitted styles but this time I wanted something more straight cut. I stubbled across just the style of coat I’d been after, whilst browsing on Asos and it had the added bonus of it being on sale. I went for the coat in Asos Tall, as I often have a problem with things being to short on my arms and I’m happy to say that there’s no issues with this one, as this coat fits perfectly.

Casual To Dressy In Two Simple Steps

I love wearing heels and going for a slightly dressier look, however day to day when running around the city, it just really isn’t practical. On days when I’m going to the gym, I find it easiest just to wear my gym trainers which are also my comfiest footwear for getting around in.

There are times though when I need to make a quick transition from a day to night look. If I’m going to an event or meeting up with friends, I do like to dress up for the occasion. When I don’t have time to go home and change, it’s easiest to just keep a pair of heels in my bag, which I can quickly change into and instantly make myself feel more evening ready…

The Weather Struggle & Playing With Textures

I really enjoy playing with different textures with my outfits, especially in the winter. This faux fur scarf has been a go to piece for me recently; whether I’m rocking it with my biker jacket, wearing it with my long wool coat or alone over a knit like this, it seems to be my go to winter wrap.

ASOS Midi Skirt In Leather Look With Wrap Detail

The faux leather skirt I’d spotted on Asos back in November and instantly fell in love with it. They also do the skirt in a gorgeous grey colour but I opted for black as I thought it would be more versatile when creating different outfits, however now I’m starting to think I want the one in stone too (don’t be greedy Samio). This is one of those skirts that totally makes an outfit and I can’t wait to wear it more over the coming months.

Leather look wrap skirt ankle boots and faux fur outfit

It was a bit of a challenge shooting my outfit on this occasion, due to the extreme wind and so these images nearly didn’t make it to my blog. However, as outfit posts are my favourite and something I want to share more here on my blog this year, I decided to try and not be so critical and let these images make the cut… We often do have to battle with the elements here in England during the winter, so I guess it’s only true to life. As much as you want to walk around looking perfectly put together, it doesn’t always happen, so that’s bound to reflect in my style shots from time to time, especially during the U.K winter.

  • Whistles Longline Shirt Dress

    Whistles Longline Shirt Dress

Happy New Year! Its seems that 2015 went by like a blur and if it taught me anything, it’s to embrace every moment and to enjoy life to the fullest. I’m all set to begin 2016. I’m feeling ambitious, motivated and excited to see what this year has to offer.

I decided to kick this year off on my blog with my favourite type of post; an outfit post. I recently purchased this longline Whistles shirt dress, which I’d spotted in store quite some time ago. I’d originally resisted the temptation of purchasing the dress, until it went on sale at Asos (it had been in my saved list for quite some time) and it made it the perfect time to buy it.

    Whistles Plain Longline Shirt Dress

I really love how versatile this dress is. Although it’s simple, it’s one of those garments that I know I’ll get plenty of wear out of. It hangs loose and straight but on this occasion I cinched it in at the waist by adding a skinny waist belt. It also looks good worn loose for a more relaxed look and could easily be worn casual with a pair of trainers.

  • Planning a Capsule Wardrobe

    Planning a Capsule Wardrobe

I’m currently in the process of downsizing my wardrobe… I say this but my actual wardrobe storage space is due to expand as my our plan for one of the rooms in mine and my boyfriend’s new house is to create a closet space (or walk in wardrobe if you like). This is an absolute girlhood dream come true for me, having a room dedicated to clothes! However, since starting to plan the space and trying to figure out what I want to do with it, I’ve realized one thing I don’t envisage is clutter.

For as long as I can remember I’ve loved to shop and accumulating new things is something I’m very good at. What I’ve noticed recently though is that quantity over quality is not always the best thing and I’m starting to re-evaluate my shopping habits and want to really think about the items that I buy and own. I think that moving to a new house is forcing me to think about the items that I really value and want to bring into a newly refurbished and uncluttered space.

I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe. This is something that’s still very new to me and people who know me would laugh at the thought of me surviving with a minimal amount of items in my wardrobe (hello, self confessed shopping addict over here). However it’s just something I feel I should at least think about. I’m already beginning my much needed clothing/shoe/accessory clear out and so whilst browsing online the other day, I thought I’d put together a sample capsule wardrobe that I’d maybe like to create (or take ideas from) for this coming Autumn…

I feel that the more I plan, the more I’m starting to think seriously about permanently downsizing my wardrobe, it would certainly help me a lot when getting dressed in the morning.

Have you ever thought about creating a capsule wardrobe for each season? What are some pieces that you would include?
