Makeup Revolution Review – The £9.50 Makeup Haul

I was browsing the aisles of Superdrug recently when I came across a makeup brand I’d never heard of before: Makeup Revolution . Intrigued, I deiced to take a closer look, as I’d spotted a few stand out lip colours and some shimmery gold shadows that had caught my eye. Before I knew it I was making my way to the till will an arm full of produfs.

Eyeshadow – Shade, Mountains of Gold

This stuff is amazing, it’s highly pigmented, long lasting, gives an amazing true gold shimmer to the eyelids and at only £1, what can I say, it’s an absolute bargain.

Bronzer – Shade, Ready to Go

I’d been torn between this shade and the one that had more golden tones (really I should have just purchased both) but after buying and trying I must say that I’m happy with this shade. I like to use it in the checks and it even looks nice on the eyelids. It has subtle coral tones and it adds a lovely highlight and shimmer when you apply it.

    Blush – Shade, Wow!

Again, this was another £1 bargain. I’d been after a baby pink blusher for a while and this one is again highly pigmented and comes out easily, so I’m very happy with it.

Blush Lacquer – Shade, Lacquer Heart

This is probably my favourite purchase out of this collection of products. This cream blush glides on like a dream and adds a smooth and well blended colour to the cheeks. I’ve been using it a lot since I purchased it. I usually go for pink tones when it comes to my blusher but I’m loving this beautiful coral shade.

Lipstick – Purple – Shade, Depraved

Always a sucker for the boldest colours, I had to purchase this purple. It glides on easily and doesn’t dry out on the lips. The only thing I’d say is that you have to reapply it sometimes to make sure that the colour has full coverage. At only £1, it’s another great purchase.

Lipstick – shade, Rebel With Cause (similar in Lip Lacquer)

This lipstick actually seems to be a slightly different consistency than the other one and also it has a slightly different scent. Still, the colour comes out bold and again it doesn’t dry out on the lips. This one also has a slightly better coverage.

I’m super impressed with all these products, which collectively cost only £9.50.

  • The Inexpensive Perfect Bright Red Lip

The Inexpensive Perfect Bright Red Lip

There’s nothing like making a statement with a bold red lip. I am lipstick obsessed (if you haven’t figured that out already) and I’m not afraid to experiment with my use of colours but if there is one shade I always come back to, it’s red and a bright red to be specific.

It’s classic, It’s chic and it instantly makes you feel that little bit more dressed up and the best part is, it needn’t be expensive! I’ll have you know that my very favourite red lipstick cost under £5. So here are my two inexpensive products for creating the perfect bright red lip…

    Inexpensive red lipstick

    Red lipstick and lip liner

The best bright red lipstick and lip liner

The P.S Love lipliner from Primark is a recent purchase. Prior to that I’d gone for the Models own bright red lip liner but after discovering this one at only £1, it was a great excuse for a change. (read my full P.S Love lip liners review here)

As I’ve said, the lipstick is my favourite red lipstick. I’ve repurchased this one time and time again. It’s from Boots and it’s the Seventeen stay pout lipstick in shade Date Night. This stuff stays on your lips so well and it doesn’t dry out the lips.

I had a bit of a panic a while a go when Seventeen re-branded and I thought that this lipstick had had been discontinued. But alas, it had just had a packaging and name change, phew.

I don’t think I need to say but I’m obsessed with this lipstick, I think the photograph of it shows that it’s a well loved one and I’ll soon be in need of yet another repurchase.

So there you have it, the inexpensive perfect bright red lip.

Do you like to rock a red lip every now and then? If so, what’s your favourite red lipstick?

  • Sleek Nude Lipstick & Matte Me Lip Cream Review

Sleek Nude Lipstick & Matte Me Lip Cream Review

Okay last nude lipstick post for a while, I promise. It’s funny because I am actually more of a ‘bold colours’ kind of girl when it comes to my lipsticks. However it’s just the fact that I’ve been discovering so many nude shades that I actually really like recently, that I’ve wanted to share them all with you.

Sleek Lipstick and Matte Me Review

    Sleek True Colour Lipstick

This lipstick has got to be the nudest nude I have come across (if that makes sense). I say this because it almost matches my skin tone. I really wasn’t sure about this shade when I first applied it, I almost felt like I muted out my lips but after trying it with a more bold eye makeup look (such as here where I’m wearing false eyelashes), it’s actually grown on me a bit. The lipstick feels nice on the lips and as it has a sheen to it, it doesn’t dry out on your lips. I think this shade would look good on lighter skin tones and would go well with smoky eyes.

    Sleek Naked Lipstick Review

    Sleek Naked

    Sleek Sheen Lipstick Naked

    Sleek Matte Me Lip Cream

I’ve worn this lip cream so much. I absolutely love the shade and I often get asked what it is when I’m wearing it. It goes on the lips like a cream and then dries. Once it has dried it stays on really well. I do like to put a little bit of lip balm on the lips before applying, in order to stop my lips from getting too dry. Like I say, I’ve worn this lip colour so much, it has certainly became one of my favourites as it seems to go with everything.

    Sleek Matte Me Review

I’d recommend both the lipstick and lip cream. I especially love the lip cream and I’m sure that one will be a repurchase for me.

  • Primark P.S. Love Nude Lipsticks Review

Primark P.S. Love Nude Lipsticks Review

As much as I love my pricey products, I’m also really into finding great budget buys when it comes to makeup. It’s all good and well spending £15 on a lipstick that you wear for nights out but when it comes to that day to day shade, that you know you’ll be constantly reapplying and eventually repurchasing, that £15 starts to look a lot more pricey than you first thought.

Lately I’ve been really into my nudes (well haven’t a lot of us), it’s certainly been a lipstick trend for some time now and it’s got us all going crazy to find the perfect nude tone to perfect our pouts. So it makes me very happy when I find a selection of nude lip shades that won’t break the bank and I it was of course in Primark where I discovered this lot.

Now I’m no stranger to the Primark P.S. Love range. Selling everything from makeup brushes, to consmetics, this is a budget brand that I’ve purchased from a number of times. This time I thought I’d give their lipstick selection a go and here’s what I picked up.

    Liquid Lipstick

    Primark P.S. Love Liquid Lipstick

So this one describes itself as a ‘liquid lipstick’ but lets face it, it’s basically a gloss. This one was £2 and it’s shade is ’10 nude’. It come’s out as a pale pinkish coral tone.

This one has a really pleasant smell. It smells of perfumed candy (just the description that comes to mind when I get a whiff). It’s tasteless however, so there is no worry of getting an unpleasant taste in your mouth.

It feels creamy on the lips and stays liquid once applied (just like a gloss). The colour is rich on first application, so there’s no need to layer it up to get it to look the colour it does from the product. I’m really keen on this liquid lipstick shade and I think it gives the lips a great, glossy pout.

    Deep Colour Ultra Shine Lipstick

Primark P.S. Love Deep Colour Ultra Shine Lipstick

This lipstick glides on easily and colour has an even coverage and is instantly visible on the lips. This one cost £1.50 and the shade is nude, however on me it comes out looking more of a pinkish tone, which I actually rather like. The lipstick has a slight sheen but I wouldn’t say it’s ‘ultra’ shiny. Still, I like the way it looks on the lips.

The only thing I’m not keen on about this lipstick is the smell. To me it smells like old school makeup, which I’ve never been keen on. It’s not too overpowering when it’s on your lips but I can smell it when I apply it. It’s not the most unpleasant thing ever but I just personally prefer sweet scented lipsticks. Overall though I like the colour and the way this lipstick feels on the lips.

    Matte Long Last Lipstick

Primark P.S. Love Matte Long Last Lipstick

This lipstick is delicious. No I didn’t eat it but it smells so good, like strawberry laces! I actually keep removing the lid just to sniff it. Although it smells of sweets, it doesn’t actually taste of sweets (it’s tasteless), which is probably for the best because I’d just end up licking it off.

Anyway, this one is also a bargain price of £1.50. I can’t remember what the label said because I ripped it off without a moments hesitation but I’m pretty sure it said ‘nude’ as that’s what I was shopping for after all and if not, it was certainly the most nude looking one in the ‘gold lid’ collection.

This lipstick feels so smooth and creamy on the lips. It actually keeps my lips feeling hydrated and stops them drying out.

I love the colour of this one, it’s got sort of a deep lilac/grey tinge to it, although I would still describe it as a nude.

    Samio Primark Lipstick Review

Overall I’m pretty impressed with these lipsticks. It’s amazing I was able to buy three decent lipsticks for £5 when usually I pay at least that for one. My favourite out of the three has to be the Matte Long Last Lipstick, for the fact that I really like the unique tone of it, it feels good on the lips and it smells gorgeous. The liquid lipstick would have to be a very close second though, as I really like this shade of gloss against my skin tone and again I love the smell.

I give the P.S. Love nude lipsticks a thumbs up and would certainly recommend them.

  • The Perfect Nude Lipstick for Olive/Tanned Skin Tones

The Perfect Nude Lipstick for Olive/Tanned Skin Tones

I think at some point or another most lipstick lovers like myself have had the arduous task of scouring the makeup isles in search for the perfect nude lip shade. Often the lipstick labels can be deceptive and what appears to be a perfectly tanned nude to match your complexion, turns out being too pasty and ends up looking like frosting on the lips rather than a subtle nude.

When I finally came across the perfect nude lip shade to suit my skin tone, I was surprised to find it was actually a budget brand and one that certainly doesn’t break the bank. I finally found my perfect shade of nude with NYC’s Expert Colour Last Lipstick in shade Love My Latte. At only £1.99 I could not believe my luck. Yes you read that price correctly. After countless times of mixing lip liners and lipsticks together in order to make my own unique shade, I’d finally found the exact one I’d been endlessly searching for.

    NYC Expert Last Lip Colour

I don’t think I need to sell you anymore on this one, as if you’re reading this post I’m guessing you’ve already found what you were looking for and at a price you can’t say no to. But I shall add that this lipstick has a creamy texture, so it glides onto the lips easily and does not dry out. I also like how the lipstick is matte so it gives an natural appearance on the lips.

The only downside I can give to this lipstick is that the lid often falls off and as the lipstick doesn’t twist down fully into the base, it can be a bit of a nightmare if it falls off in your handbag. But if you’re aware that this may occur, you can carry it in a small makeup bag to prevent any handbag mishaps. Overall I’d give this lipstick a big thumbs up and taking the price into consideration I would defiantly recommend it.

Lip Lines – The Perfect Lip Colour

Natural Collection Lip Lines Lip Liner

    Natural Collection Lip Liner

Im sure I’m not the first person to find the perfect colour lip liner to then find it would make the perfect colour lipstick too! That’s exactly what happened when I started using this Natural Collection Lip Liner in Shade Espresso. It’s a lip liner I’ve purchased frequently for the past couple of years and originally bought it as a liner to go with one of my favourite brown lipsticks from No7 (now unfortunately discontinued). After my beloved favourite brown lipstick was no longer available, I was on the look out for a replacement. It was in a moment of desperation that I decided to use the Natural Collection Lip Liner to cover my entire lips and so since then it is a shade I’ve worn often.

Obviously as liners are meant for the edge of the lip line and not all over, they are of course slightly dryer on the lips than lipstick. Therefore when applying the liner as a full colour I use a small amount of Vaseline or lip balm as a base on the lips before applying the pencil. This way the pencil glides onto my lips easier and also prevents them from drying out.

I have have a number of these lip liners from The Natural Collection and as they are a great price, I definitely recommend them as a bargain beauty buy!

  • Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour Lipstick in Lasting Chestnut

Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour Lipstick in Lasting Chestnut

One of my most recent lip colour purchases is this Superstay 14 Hour Lipstick by Maybelline NewYork. It wasn’t the fact that it claimed to last for up to 14 hours that attracted me to this one (because let’s face it, how often do we wear lipstick for 14 hours anyway). It was the colour that made me buy this particular lipstick and the fact that I’m a sucker for a shiny new makeup product. To be honest, I already had multiple brown lipsticks but as usual I convinced myself that it was a slightly different shade to one I already owned.

Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour Lipstick in Lasting Chestnut
I love the shade of this lipstick, it actually is different to the many other brown tones I own, as this one is a lot more subtle and also has a slight sheen. It’s a rather moisture rich lipstick, so it feels nice of the lips and doesn’t dry out.

In terms of longevity, I wouldn’t say it’s the best lipstick for staying on and would maybe say that it’s claim to staying on for up to 14 hour is probably a slight overstatement. However, like I said, this lipstick doesn’t dry out the lips and so you can reapply it, without it making the lips look or feel funny. It also has a delicious candy scent, which I absolutely love.

  • MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer

    MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer - Funk

I was in Superdrug a few weeks ago doing one of my regular makeup hauls, when this MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer caught my eye. First of all the packaging stood out to me as it looked fancier than the other MUA lip products and second was the price. At only £3 I had to buy it and try it.

The Luxe Lip Lacquer comes in a selection of appealing colours, including a bright red and nude, as well as others. I went for this gorgeous pink shade called Funk. I thought I’d buy just one of these lip lacquers to try it for the first time and I have to say I’ll definitely be purchasing more.

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer - pink

It glides on smoothly as a liquid and then quickly dries to form a matte smudge proof finish on the lips. The colour is intense and long lasting. This product is excellent value for money. The packaging is great and as it comes boxed it makes the product look a lot more expensive than. It would make a great little stocking filler for someone (yes I am mentioning Christmas already), it’s never to early to start collecting gifts.

I give this product a big thumbs up and for all you lipstick lovers out there I’d say this product is a bargain buy must have!

    Sleek Exxxaggerate – Purple Lipstick

Not long ago I did a makeup shop and ended up doing a bit of a Sleek haul (the other products I will blog soon). It was one of those situations, you walk into Boots ready to buy that one item you actually need and then see that it’s three for two mix and match and end up buying at least 6 items (two of those were free so it was basically a steal right). Anyway this was one of those items, not what I’d initially gone in to purchase but something I ended up wanting anyway.

  • Valentine’s Day Inspiration

I’m not usually an openly romantic person and the thought of being all soppy and seeing a mass amount of PDA kind of makes me feel sick. So as you can imagine, Valentines day isn’t the perfect occasion for me, however I can’t deny I do enjoy being treated and it can often be a good reminder to show your other half how much you appreciate and love them. So I’ve compiled a very small list of Valentine’s Day inspiration, either for the occasion or to buy as a gift.

LOVE Ice Cream Pink Pleated Cold Shoulder Dress

This dress is so cute. It would be perfect to wear for a Valentine’s date (if the weather permits) and it will be perfect to keep for summer too. It also comes in a darker pink as well as black which also look very chic.
