    Flashbacks of The Last Summer…

I woke up yesterday morning and it was snowing… SNOWING! Now I’m not complaining, no wait a minute, I am. Snow is fabulous, it’s delightful, it’s absolutely fantastically magical when it comes along before Christmas, or Christmas Day, even better! However, two and a half weeks after, when the tree is down and Santa has gone home, I’m over it. I’m sick of being cold and I certainly don’t want to see snow. Now I shouldn’t be moaning as I really do enjoy the different seasons and I’m sure if I lived with one consistent weather type I’d miss it but I blame the shops and Christmas cards for my lack of January weather appreciation. I blame Christmas cards because the pictures always portray snow laden valleys and pretty icicles, which now immediately makes me associate cold weather and frost with Christmas time and the shops are worse because they decide to get rid of all the winter stock at the coldest time of the year and start stocking in spring/summer clothes and bikinis. Now I don’t know about you but that really messes my head up and it makes my need for spring/summer days even more immidiate.

With all this in my mind, I was clearing through some of the stuff on my hard drive the other day when I stumbled across some unused outfit shots from last August. It reminded me how nice it is to be able to wear so few layers. So now I thought I’d finally share this forgotten outfit post on my blog, as a reminder that it was warm once and it will eventually be beautiful spring/summer once again. And to all of you who live in countries where it is warm right now, I’m not jealous one bit. Of course I’m not.

    What I wore:
    Kimono – Zara
    Vest – Forever 21
    Jeans – Topshop
    Sandals – River Island

Dressed for Rain in the Knee High Merryn Moors Boots

You know you love your new footwear when planning your outfit becomes a case of, ‘what can I wear today with my boots?’ rather than ‘what footwear will go with today’s outfit?’.

I’d been on the hunt for a pair of practical knee high leather boots for a while and so I was delighted to be able to get my hands on these. They are practical and stylish (a combination that I love) and the cushioning on the sole makes them super comfy too.

It was cold and raining on Saturday in Manchester (surprise surprise) and so I teamed my new boots with a polo neck, poncho and faux fur jacket on top and to avoid looking completely drowned by layers I went for tights and a simple skirt on the bottom.

    What I wore:
    Knee high boot – Clarks
    Faux Fur Coat – H&M
    Knitted poncho – H&M
    Polo-neck top – H&M
    ‘S’ Initial earrings – Primark
    Skirt – H&M
Real leather tote bag – Bershka (similar here)

It’s at this point I risk looking like a walking advertisement for H&M. I can assure you this was not my plan when dressing. Like I said, I just wanted to wear my new boots, so in all honesty I could have thrown on any old combination, it was only later that I realised I gone all ‘brand matchy’.

Saturday was spent with the boyfriend. We finally went to the cinema to watch The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. Then afterwards we went for a few cocktails round the Northern Quarter before going for curry at my favourite Indian restaurant.

Yesterday the boyfriend and I had another day off together and so we spent it doing what we do best, shopping, eating and drinking. Well maybe the shopping part is what I do best but the eating and drinking is definitely a joint effort as we are both big foodies and also partial to the odd cocktail… Or five.

Shopping turned out to be more successful for my boyfriend than it did for me, however I did manage to purchase a big cosy scarf and my second pair of winter boots, which I love!

I wore this vintage dress that I’ve had for about a year but never actually worn until yesterday. I’d bought the dress off eBay and it is slightly on the large size, (probably the reason I’d never previously got round to wearing it). Thanks to the large waist belt (which also came with the dress) I was able to really nip it in at the wait and also roll up the sleeves to give the dress a more fitted look. I decided to team the dress with a faux fur shrug I’ve had for a while from Asos and together it gave it gave the outfit a kind of 1940s look, although the dress is most likely from the 80s.

    Botanist Cocktails

The afternoon soon crept in and so we sampled a couple of yummy cocktails at the Botanist before heading to Evuna in The Northern Quater, for a late lunch of tapas.

After lunch we went to Hard Rock Cafe for more tasty cocktails, starting with milkshake cocktails, me opting for the one with bacon bits on top, which was surprisingly delicious. And after drinking our way into the evening it was then time for dinner, so we decided to go to one of our favourite burger joints, Almost Famous. I went for the Smokey and The Bandit burger and we shared morning after fries and suicide wings. As usual, it did not disappoint.

I went for lunch at Wagamama for the first time ever (shocking I know) and then later met up with street life/style blogger The Mancorialist.
